Three negative impacts of Parental divorce on children in Contemporary Research Paper
Three negative impacts of Parental divorce on children in Contemporary China - Research Paper Example The number of separations and divorces is still less than the United States but the marked difference is becoming less day by day. And the impact it has on Chinese children is pretty bad. They feel inferior to everyone else all of a sudden and cannot help but think that they have a broken family even if their parents ended it at the best of terms1. The Government of China has certain rules that everyone has to follow and one of them is the famous one child policy. If the one child of the family loses the only family he has ever known, it crushes him completely. This is one of the greatest negative impacts that take place, which he has, no sibling to share the scenario with. Most parents fight but get back together because they have various children and find sense and compassion in one of them, enough to patch things up. This is not possibly here because all alone; the child faces the worst of the deals and often and understandably so thinks that no one can understand what he is going through. Even though divorce is not uncommon in China anymore, it is still somewhat not an acceptable thing in society. To escape from the prying eyes and the pinging gossiping sessions, more often than not the parent moves away to another country. Usually it is the parent with who the child remains, through a custody settlement. This also has a negative impact on the young one. Leaving behind everything they ever know, they become accustomed to the new world, often feeling incomplete and hopeless. The reverse effect can also take place. Sometimes no one moves anywhere and the child has to face a lot of discrimination amongst the peers and the society because it is still an unacceptable trait in a lot of areas of China. Chinese people are usually very family oriented and have a fixed set of ethics and values, even in these times where such things are rarely found. It is

Oil and Gas Management - Essay Example This is achieved mainly through: Local content participation can be measured based on a given project, an associate of the project or based on the country as a whole. Local content can be defined as the value added to a host nation via the activities generated by gas and oil production (Wise and Shtylla 2007). Many analysts are of the view that the effort and time spent developing local content participation strategies can be of commercial and social benefits which can generate enormous economic growth as well as have a huge share in sustainable development (Petro 2010). Oil and gas companies are different and hence it is almost impossible to achieve a successful local content participation program. To achieve a successful local content participation program, a number of key factors are to be involved. They include: A host of nations have made considerable progress in the implementation and advancement of local content participation but the issue still remains of concern. As a result, more efforts and time are necessary to realise an improvement in the local content participation practices. It is estimated that 20 years from now, 90% of hydrocarbon production will be a product of developing nations (Baker 2007). This list of developing nations that extract gas and oil have introduced the local content participation requirements into the regulatory frameworks that govern the developments of natural resources. Due to the increasing importance for the local content participation, Statoil (2008) argues that most companies view local content concept as a strategic issue with direct impacts on vital business operations, for instance, procurement and business development. In response, many developing countries are coming up with innovative tools and strategies that are directed towards meeting the requirements set by local content policies as well as contribute to

Perfact reflection for a refer dissertation Essay
Perfact reflection for a refer dissertation - Essay Example I discovered I have poor time management skills because of the fact that I was unable to fully adhere to the time schedule that I had set for myself and in most cases I was forced to carry forward certain tasks beyond the deadline that I had previously set. I should great strengths in regards to records keeping and management since I was able to refer back easily to all the records that I had collected before starting to write the dissertation. Secondly, I showed great strengths in handling people since none of the respondents was harsh to me or refused to cooperate. This showed that I knew how to convince people and engage them in conversation up to the point they willingly agree to participate in my research project. The main problem that I encountered was limited secondary resources that directly touched on my research topic or objectives. This is to say that the number of scholarly books and articles that touched of personal selling and in stores, sales of Blackberry in stores that are located in China were not easily available. The lack of scholarly books and articles that directly covered my dissertation topic or objectives did not discourage me, but rather it confirmed that my research project was unique and it was bound to help in building the body of knowledge in marketing studies. That said, I solved the problem by relying on scholarly books and articles that indirectly touched on the subject, for example sources that touched on direct marketing and personal selling were completely relevant and useful. Secondly, I applied the use of internet sources from credible sites that touched on my research topic directly or indirectly, these sources helped to bridge the gap caused by limited scholarly books and articles. The methodology that I chose incorporated the application of both primary and secondary research, which validated the research findings in the sense that secondary data were used to validate

Romeo and Juliet Essay Example for Free
Romeo and Juliet Essay Romeo and Juliet is a famous and legendary play written by the William Shakespeare around 1595. Romeo and Juliet stands as a great play in its own right. This is a tragic play about a pair of star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. They both pursue their love for each other even though they were related from two power families the Montagues and the Capulets who have been feuding with each other for years. Romeo knew a good thing that he saw it in Juliet. It was the love at first sight. Shakespeare created a tension in a play by gathering Romeo and Juliet and it increases, as the hatred between the Montagues and Capulets continues. Eventually the play turns to tragic end because both, Romeo and Juliet die at the end and it brings tears to the eyes of the audience. There are many ways in which Romeo and Juliet can be directed. Every production is a right interpretation by the director, the actors and the audience. The director plays an important role in making a movie he/she has to visualise the scene in order to decide how and when a certain scene should take place, also its directors job to instruct the actors on how to bring the script to life. He also has to figure out that what kind of setting would create an atmosphere most suited for a particular scene. As a director, I will decide to give film adaptation to Romeo and Juliet act 2 scene 2, instead of staging it in theatre because Shakespeare created the setting that were blowing in the Elizabethan audiences mind. They lived in an aural society where that needed little visual source to understand, whereas we live in a modern society where television and film visual impact is what appeal to a modern audience. Also by giving the film adaptation, I could express my ideas more clearly with the help of camera and will be able to give special effects such as lighting and background music. Before to act the scene, director has to decide that whether he/she wants to modernise the scene or not, and this is why I have decided to keep the original language and change setting into modernise setting. Also I have decided to change the location of the play from the original setting but the theme will be the same. I have chosen Lahore (one of the city of the Pakistan) for setting of this scene because Pakistan is famous for its different cultures, traditions, different ethnic groups and arranged marriages. All theses characteristics of Pakistan will connect to the play when Romeo and Juliet would come from different ethnic groups and Juliet will be forced to marry Paris. Another reason why I selected Lahore as my setting is because in Lahore, balconies are very common and the way they have built are very nice-looking and attractive and act 2 scene 2 is the famous Balcony scene of the most renowned in all of Shakespeare. Another reason of choosing Lahore is because there are beautiful gardens, fountains and the moon and stars sparks very bright at night, which would provide an excellent background for the balcony scene. I will change the costumes of the actors to make the scene even more motivating. I would like Juliet to wear white blossom robe, as it is a symbol of her virginity. I will also change the clothes of Montague and Capulet; Montague will wear white shirts with grey coats and grey trousers, whereas Capulet will wear red shirts with blue coat and blue trousers. This will make clear to audience that who relates from which family. I will give some romantic music when Romeo sees Juliet come to the window because it will have a great influence on the audiences mind and will realise the excitement that will be felt by the Romeo for his love. When Romeo will be leaving to Juliet, I will make this part of the scene very romantic by making Romeo to kiss Juliet, also I will be shown light on them, which will raise the importance of their separation. Also I will make use of the modern props such as machine guns, revolvers, tanks, latest cars instead of swords and horses because it would keep the audience active and would create the effect of the modern world. The language used by the Shakespeare is very passionate, romantic and sexual. For example It is my lady, O, it is my love! O, that she knew she were! It shows the Romeo love for Juliet is becoming very powerful. O, speak again, bright angel! for thou art As glorious to this night, being oer my head As a winged messenger of heaven Unto the white-upturned wondering eyes Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him When he bestrides the lazy puffing clouds And sails upon the bosom of the air Here Romeo really believes that Juliet is angelic. An angelic is the glorious to the night because it appears in a glory a halo surrounding and emitting from its body. The angel moves with the effortless ease, lighter than clouds, more graceful than ship sailing on the swelling bosom of the ocean. And Romeo speaks of all this as though he has actually seen an angel and is now looking upon another. O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; These phrases are spoken by the Juliet. Of course shes not actually speaking to Romeo (she has no idea that Romeo is here), but she is so much in love with him and she doesnt really mean him to reject his name, she only desires to be with him. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And Ill no longer be a Capulet Here Juliet is ready to sacrifice her family, if he will just swear loves her; she will give up the name of Capulet. Looking at the Shakespeares poetic, romantic, passionate language I have decided to keep the language same because it is very appealing to the audience and draws audience attention very rapidly. Act 2 Scene 2 illustrates the strength of the Romeo and Juliets love. In this scene they both express their love for each other and agreed to marry with each other. When they both agreed for married, Juliet was not even 14 years old but still she had an absolute quality of the language and thought. At that time, the head of the household was the sole ruler and decided where to marry his daughter or son. Many marriages were based on suitability, not on love. In conclusion, film is most attractive and romantic way to express the love of two younger, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet tried so much to stay with each other but fate didnt allow them, and at the end they both died. This play is tragedy like others of Shakespeares such as Macbeth. Eventually after the death of two innocent lovers, two evil families Capulet and Montague decided not to fight ever.

Pollution And Its Effects
Pollution And Its Effects Contemporary world has been marked with so many changes and advancement through industrialization and development of new technologies. It is amazing the effects industrialization and technology advancements have caused. Nations have experienced improved techniques in production leading to increased production and consequently economic growth. Citizens have had their living standards through the increased production. Authors of papers and books have expressed their felt gratitude to industrialization and its effects as well as the improvement in technology. Nonetheless, many such authors do not leaning on one side but appreciate both the negative and positive effects of industrialization and improvement in the technology. Other than the positive effects of industrialization and technological improvement the most threatening negative effects of the two is pollution. Pollution is a broad aspect encompassing many institutions and schools of thoughts. In direct terms, pollution is the int roduction of unwanted substances into natural environment leading to environmental instability, disorder, discomfort and harm to the ecosystem affecting the different living things in their habitat. Unwanted substance introduction into the environment has been spurred by industrialization and improved technology leading to production of many varied products. The unwanted substances are the pollutants. Unfortunately, industrialization and technological effect of pollution has caused a lot of harm to living things in their natural habitat. Air pollution being one of the forms of pollution has had serious negative impacts on living things Release of Chemicals into the atmosphere inhaled by living things Causes diseases related to lungs and pulmonary Global warming leading All these activities and effects forces nations to employ structural and strategic policies thus incurring increased costs. Water pollution is another cause of pollution detrimental to survival of living things Causes through pathogens, chemical, and thermal Effects on non-aquatic living things Effects to aquatic living things Water is one of the essentials of life thus taking polluted water leads to health deterioration leading to spending resources in treatment and prevention of diseases. Other than two broad classification of pollution, environmental pollution is another Causes of environmental pollution; dumping Effects to living things Just as the other forms of pollution, environmental pollution leads to stretching of a nationà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s resources in trying to curb with the problem and this increases running costs of nations. Conclusion Works Cited Atkinson, William. Pollution and Environmental Exposure Insurance. Precast Magazines, July 28, 2010 Silverman, Robert. Pollution takes its Toll on the Heart. Science Daily, September 21, 2010. Air Pollution and its Negative Effects Air pollution is one of the most common forms of pollution experienced because of industrializations and improvement in technology. This form of pollution arises due to emission of unwanted substances (pollutants) into the atmosphere. Atmosphere contains specific components of gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon (IV) oxide, and argon among others thus introduction of any other gases leads to pollution of the air. Survival of living things requires oxygen resent in the atmosphere. It is an essential to living things survival and thus it should never been contaminated. Most industrial processes release certain substances most of which are chemicals into the atmosphere thus contaminating the oxygen present. Such chemicals are in form of smoke that entails burnt fuels primarily composed of carbon. Burning carbon combines the element with oxygen thus forming a dangerous gas, carbon (IV) oxide commonly referred to as the carbon dioxide. Releasing such chemical substances into the atmosp here causes air pollution (Atkinson). During inhalation and exhalation amongst the living things, there are no specialized organs within their structures that purify the air or choose the right type of gas to be inhaled. In the process, most living things end up inhaling different gases among them carbon (IV) oxide also known as the carbon dioxide. Inhalation of CO2 has so many effects within the physiological processes of the living things. It combines with the hemoglobin meant to transport oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body. Such combinations are usually chemical reactions that are irreversible hence interfering with the hemoglobin normal biconcave structure for efficient transport of oxygen. As a result, living things end up suffocating and this in most cases leads to complications and at the end death (Silverman). Emission of such chemical substances into the atmosphere especially the CO2 leads the worldà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s threatening concept, global warming. Global warming is the rapture of the ozone layer because of increased amount of CO2 in the atmosphere; at average, the normal amount should be 0.03% of the atmosphere. Global warming has had great influence in the operations of nations who are putting resources in the reducing it through planting of trees and other environmental promotions. Global warming has the effect of interfering with the skin due to allowing of the ultra violet rays from the sun to heat human beings and living things. Consequence of the ultra violet rays is different cancers resulting from them (Atkinson). These leads to extensive use of public funds in environmental preservation thus stretching the available resources in the structural and strategic policy formation hence reduction in the economic levels. Water Pollution and its Negative Effects This is another form of pollution where the unwanted materials contaminate water bodies. Many pollutants leading to water pollution include pathogens, chemicals, and thermal contaminations. Pathogenic pollution is caused by water contaminations through bacteria such as the coliform bacteria. Other microorganisms cause water contamination such as the salmonella, novovirus, and parasitic worms among others. On the hand, chemical substances released from factories and industries cause water pollution. Chemicals released from the industries, factories, and other sectors of the economy such as agricultural sector include both organic and inorganic chemicals. These chemical substances interfere with the purity of water and most of these chemicals cause so much diseases and complications (Silverman). Human activities such as burning charcoal leading to global warming cause increase in general temperatures thus interfering with the temperatures of water bodies. Other human activities also influence the temperatures of water bodies using engines within such water bodies thereby interfering with the water temperatures. Changes in water temperatures and chemical presence within the water bodies directly affect the aquatic life through killing the living things within such water bodies. As a result, the effect on such aquatic life leads to their death hence the negative effects of water pollution (Atkinson). Deaths of aquatic lives affect human activities indirectly and directly. For instance, the death of fish due to chemicals and changes in water temperatures has the direct effect of reducing the amount of food available for people in terms of proteins. This has the indirect effect or poor health due to reduced proteins as well as reduction in the economic activities causing poor performance of the economy (Silverman). Contaminated water by pathogens causes diseases to human beings thereby reducing the productivity of the citizens of a given nation. Just as the other forms of pollution, water pollution influences forces nations to employ the use of national resources to reduce these effects. Consequently, this leads to poor economic performance. Environmental Pollution and its Negative Effects Another broader form of pollution is the environmental pollution taking care of other forms of pollution other than water and air. The major cause of environmental pollution is the dumping of most of the non-biodegradable products from the industrial and technological development. Such industrial products mostly abused and haphazardly dumped include the industrial plastics. Pollutants of environment release so much toxin substances into the atmosphere affecting both human and other living things (Atkinson). Some of the effects of environmental pollution include the biomagnifications where toxin substances from the pollutants released into the atmosphere concentrate to higher levels thereby affecting the productivity of human beings. Research has proved that the majority of people staying near the dumping sites experience physiological process and sometimes is affected brain wise. Sometimes the environmental pollution causes soil infertility thus reducing the productivity of the soil and this greatly affects the activities and living standards of citizens within a given nations (Silverman). It is worthy noting that the efforts put in place to correct the environmental pollution stretches the national resources and this causes much problem to the economic performance of the nation in question. Conclusion As a parting short, it has been evident from observation and carried out research that pollution has enormous negative impacts to the society. Therefore, there is a need to engage in a number of activities that will help mitigate the risks associated with pollution.

Invisible Man Essay examples -- essays research papers
Invisible Man What makes us visible to others? How is it that sometimes society is completely blind to our exisitance? Either we are invisible because we are not being noticed or we are invisible because others can not see our true identity due to expectations relating to race, gender or class. Of course the term invisible was not intended to be taken literally. The meaning of invisible in Ellisonââ¬â¢s Invisible Man is essentially metaphorical. Ralph Ellisonââ¬â¢s Invisible Man, the main character experiences invisibility in various manners and situations. Being invisible has its advantages. If others donââ¬â¢t acknowlegde you then you could get away with actions that people are usualy punished with a penalty. In the book, the main character tells of his advantages of being invisible such as living in the basement of an apartment building rent free beause the landlord is unaware of his dwelling. The same example can be said in a working enviornment where an employee can come in late multiple times but is not scrutinized because that employee is not vital and therefore unoticed by the employer. This type of invisiblilty is favored by some by laothed by others. à à à à à Some people donââ¬â¢t like the felling of being unimportant. Ironically, in the book Invisible Man, the main character explained the advantages of being invisible shortly after he showed contempt for being invisible. Frustrated at his invisibility, he lashes out at a man he intentionally bumped into (althought at the beginning, he said it was accidental). Observing this more closely, it was an attempt to be acknowledge by the man to see if he would move out of the way. The fact that the man didnââ¬â¢t bother to do so only push him down a deeper state of anger and therefore the only way for him to be acknowledge is to act drastically. This inisibility is a reflection of the otherââ¬â¢s respect for the main character. The main character was not a seen person of importance. Not being acknowledge is usually frowned upon. This disregard of acknowledge occurs often in a place of work. Whether it be in a learning institution or a working enviornment were a perso n deprived of praise and recongnition. In order for that perons to be reconginized is to make him/herself seen and usually this calls for gaining the attention of another by some act. Then your invisibility becomes visble as a new image is ... ...rson that he/she should speak with slang and where baggy clothes. In time, this person usually go through the gradual change of becoming person that was visible to the black community. In time those who tend towards the identity that is not their own evetually becomes lost in that identity. Therefore their true identity is no longer visible to them but remain visible to others in that ââ¬Å"otherâ⬠identity. The issue of visibility and invisibility will always involve race, gender and class. Race, gender and class arenââ¬â¢t the ONLY subjects that would influenece visibility and invisibiy. It can also be actions, education, hieght, etc. Unfortuntely people tend to see only what they expect to see, blinding themselves from the actually truths othe of others. This seems to be an ongoing issue as people tend to only look at the surface and donââ¬â¢t bother to look past it. Recongnizing what deserves regonistion is not the only solution. There is also fair treatment of others. We must learn not to assume what we expect of others. This expectations usually lead to underestimting and disrespect to those that deserive it. Only when we decide not to be blind can we finally see what ws truly invisible.
